Food Handler Certification Available Through Oregon Restaurant Association
[Wilsonville, OR] - With the beginning of summer comes a surge of hiring in the restaurant industry. In order to legally serve food and beverages to the public in Oregon, food handler certification is required within 30 days of being hired. The Oregon Restaurant Association, Oregon’s largest training provider, offers industry members two convenient ways to achieve food handler certification through its educational foundation.
ORA’s Food Handler Online course is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A comprehensive study course is presented to the participant to review before taking the exam. If the exam is passed with a score of 75 percent or higher, a certificate is made available to print after payment has been processed. Certificates can be reprinted at any time while valid (three years), and once expired, the participant can easily retake the exam by returning to his or her online account.
For those without access to the internet, ORA offers Food Handler By-Mail certification. The By-Mail packet, which can be purchased over the phone, through the mail or by fax, includes a study booklet and an exam. The exam can be taken at home or at work and must be mailed in for grading once completed. If a score of 75 percent or higher is achieved, a Food Handler Certificate is mailed to the participant.
To date, ORA has trained more than 190,000 people through its food handler programs. For more information on how to obtain a Food Handler Certificate or on any of ORA’s other training products, visit www.orefoundation.org. |
