The Food Innovation Center
located in downtown Portland is recruiting food
tasters to help provide food producers with
feedback on their products. Tasters who sign
up and attend regularly-scheduled food tastings
and can earn at least $20 for their hard work.

and Science Geeks: A Marriage Made in Heaven?
If the title, "Molecular
Gastronomist" sends shivers down your spine,
then this event is for you! Learning about how
foods are actually delicious science experiments
can be fun at the "Science in the Kitchen:
An Evening with the Nation's Top Culinary Alchemists"
taking place at the Oregon Museum of Science
and Industry on January 19th - which is also
the museum's annual fundraising gala. Enjoy
some of the culinary creations of Homaro Cantu
and Will Goldfarb and other innovative chefs
from New York and be prepared to have your taste
buds wowed. Tickets for the event start at $100

Teachers Take Over Oregon State Fair for Fall
Professional Development Meeting
A record number of 60 Oregon
ProStart teachers are anticipated to be attending
the October 5, 2007 Fall Professional Development
Session taking place in Salem at the Oregon
State Fairgrounds. Citing Oregon's fore-front
connectivity with chefs and farmers, this session
will include a brainstorming opportunity to
connect culinary students with farmers and producers
and reinforce sustainability and local growers.
Additionally, the Oregon Blueberry and Oregon
Hazelnut commissions will be providing hands-on
demos and interaction focused on these Northwest
regional ingredients. The event is open to everyone;
however non-ProStart teachers wishing to attend
must purchase lunches for $15 in advance by
emailing: dawn@orefoundation.org.
