Students Work with Newest Food Network Star
Guy Fieri at the Portland Fall Home and Garden
Show
The newest Food Network Star,
Guy Fieri, is coming to Portland and will be
conducting demos at the Portland Fall Home &
Garden Show taking place this weekend Oct 6,7
and 8th at the Portland Expo Center.
Five ProStart students are lined up to be the
prep help to assist Fieri at this event, which
will provide a great opportunity to meet this
new star, learn some new culinary techniques
and of course, network a little.
Fieri, a restaurant owner in California and
a big ProStart supporter, beat out several other
contenders for the Food Network Star earlier
this year.
If you would like to see the demos, the demo
times are at 12noon and 3pm on Friday and Saturday,
and 11am and 1pm on Sunday. There is a parking
fee for the Expo Center as well as an admission
fee for the Home and Garden Show. For more information,
directions or fee information, please visit
www.expocenter.org.

doing a demo for the Oregon Diabetes Expo at
the Oregon Convention Center, along with other

assisting and cleanup
SHIFT 2 - 2 people from 11:45 - 2pm for prep,

up ASAP- spots are first-come/first- serve!
This is a great opportunity for students to
add to their portfolio, make great networking
contacts and have some experience for their
resume!

Participate in Wolf Creek Oktoberfest
Under the supervision of ProStart teacher Shelli
James, several students from Grants Pass High
School were involved in this past weekend's
Oktoberfest celebration at the historic Wolf
Creek Inn in Southern Oregon. Students were
involved in a Pro-Am culinary competition and
also helped with food preparation and operations
on the historic grounds of the Inn.
If your ProStart school is involved in a community
event, please let us know so we can promote
your program. Please email dawn@orefoundation.org!
