Corporate Accounts offered for Online Food Handler Cards ~ It's Easy and Convenient!

Does your class or business need to have regular access with online food handler card training? With the Oregon Restaurant Education Foundation's online portal, schools and companies can now set up an account to monitor their employees’ online training for food handler and alcohol server courses.

There are two options for payment: you can pre- purchase course credits for your students or employees, or you can request a purchase order account for quarterly billing.

Up-to-date reports are available to you at any time that show student or employee course usage, transaction history and credits available (for pre-paid accounts).

In addition, a “Location Account” can be set up within a primary account, for additional schools, stores or locations for separate tracking. Each school, store or location will have its own authorization code which allows the student or employee to gain access to online training at anytime. National ProStart Student Invitational Location Announced San Diego to Headline 2008-2009 Competitions

The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) announced today that San Diego, Calif. will be the site of the 2008 and 2009 National ProStart Student Invitational. Held annually in April, this rigorous competition brings together teams of ProStart high school state champions from around the country to compete for the national title, as well as scholarships for post-secondary education.

“San Diego met or exceeded all of our requirements for a National ProStart Student Invitational host city – top-tier destination city, expansive competition space and strong support from the state restaurant association,” said Mary M. Adolf, president and chief operating officer of the NRAEF. “We look forward to partnering with the California Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to showcase the talents of these dedicated students who are the future leaders of the restaurant and foodservice industry.”

The National ProStart Student Invitational operates on a biannual cycle, returning to a host city for two consecutive years. The 7th annual competition will be held April 24-26, 2008 at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center in San Diego. The resort was chosen for its onsite convention center, plentiful accommodations, airy grounds and central location. San Diego will play host to the top teams from participating states who will compete in two competitions: culinary and management. At the event, industry leaders interact with the students, helping fuel their passion for the industry and the opportunities available within it.

The 2007 National ProStart Student Invitational is taking place in Charlotte, NC. With the 2008-2009 competitions slated for the West Coast, this will make it much easier for Oregon's teams headed for the national competition in terms of travel arrangements, time and costs.

Nationwide, more than 54,000 students in 46 states, territories and districts are served by ProStart, a two- year curriculum that blends classroom learning with mentored work experience to teach high school students the management skills needed for a career in the restaurant and foodservice industry. When students meet academic standards, complete a checklist of competencies, and work at least 400 hours in the industry, they are awarded the ProStart National Certificate of Achievement that signifies they are well qualified to enter the industry workforce.
